We help artists, writers, and cultural producers bring creative projects to life.
Our work begins with listening: to the rhythm of a project, to the needs of its form, and to the intentions of the maker. From there, we shape the editorial, aesthetic, and strategic pathways that allow each work to emerge with clarity and purpose.
Through publishing, design, and strategic development, The Obscura Agency builds the frameworks where projects can take shape — in print, online, and across emerging media. We integrate creative direction, editorial partnership, production management, and long-view planning into a cohesive support system tailored to each creator and each project.
Whether developing an artist book, exhibition catalogue, memoir, chapbook, hybrid manuscript, or digital publication, we craft bespoke systems that translate creative vision into enduring form. We work across disciplines and mediums, co-producing with writers, artists, and cultural practitioners whose practices often exceed traditional categories.
Our approach is collaborative, intentional, and future-facing: we help creators not only make work, but situate it — within communities, markets, and the wider cultural landscape — so that each project can circulate, resonate, and sustain itself long after launch.

Ashley Obscura
Creative Direction
+ Project Management
Ashley Obscura is a Canadian-Mexican poet, publisher, and creative director working at the intersection of literature, art, and emerging media.
As founder of Metatron Press and The Obscura Agency, she develops books, digital publications, artist projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations that reimagine how creative work is made, circulated, and sustained. Across editorial development, publishing strategy, creative management, and co-production, her work supports artists, writers, and cultural practitioners whose practices often exceed conventional forms.
Her practice combines poetic vision with design, strategy, and innovation, drawing from a decade of experience in independent publishing, hybrid storytelling, and cross-media creation. She collaborates with multidisciplinary artists, authors, and cultural producers to build frameworks that allow complex, experimental, or boundary-crossing projects to take shape — in print, online, through sound, across platforms, and within emerging technologies.
Obscura’s work is rooted in the belief that creative expression thrives through thoughtful structure: a blend of editorial care, conceptual clarity, and systems that support long-term visibility and impact. Her approach bridges the literary and the digital, the intimate and the expansive, shaping new pathways for how stories, ideas, and artistic visions move through the world.
